The referendum for the preservation of the USSR

– “25 years ago was the first and last in the history of the USSR all-Union referendum. Citizens of the Union republics responded to the question, which was to determine the fate of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. More than 76% of voters supported the preservation of the Soviet Union.
“Do You consider necessary the preservation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics as a renewed Federation of equal sovereign republics, in which will be fully guaranteed rights and freedoms of any nationality?”
“In the lists of citizens eligible to participate in the referendum of the USSR, was included 185 647 355 people; took part in the vote 148 574 606 pers., or 80,0 %.
One of them said
“Yes” – 113 512 812 people, or 76.4 per cent;
“No” – 32 303 977 people, or 21.7 per cent;
invalid – 2 757 817 ballots, or 1.9 %.
The results of the referendum in some republics:

(Click to enlarge) MFing traitors – On 8 December 1991, Yeltsin, Kravchuk and Shushkevich — the heads of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine signed the so-called “Belovezhskoe agreement” on the cessation of existence of the USSR.
– “The decision to hold the referendum was adopted at the IV Congress of people’s deputies of the USSR, when 1665 1816 delegates from those present voted in favour of the preservation of the Union SSR.
On 24 December 1990 the Congress adopted the Resolution “On the referendum of the USSR on the question of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”.
Pursuant to decision IV Congress of people’s deputies of the USSR and in accordance with the legislation on the referendum of the USSR, on the basis that no one but the people can’t take their historic responsibility for the fate of the USSR, the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on 16 January 1991 adopted a Resolution “On the organization and measures to ensure the holding of the referendum of the USSR on the question of the preservation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”.
March 17, 1991, took place only 70 years of existence of the USSR referendum. To the citizens of the Soviet Union, the question was raised: “do You Consider necessary the preservation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics as a renewed Federation of equal sovereign republics, in which will be fully guaranteed rights and freedoms of any nationality?”.
The Central referendum Commission of the USSR has established that the vast majority of citizens voted for preservation of the Union state in an updated form. (…)“
